SPP, MISO eye new pseudo-tie provisions to aid coordination, grid reliability

Southwest Power Pool and Midcontinent Independent System Operator have proposed changes to their joint operating agreement to better coordinate and ensure grid reliability when generators within one region are controlled and dispatched by the neighboring region through a pseudo-tie. Pseudo-ties allow control of a generating unit or load to be transferred in real-time from the “native” balancing authority where the unit or load is physically located to an “attaining” BA in a different location.
