Integrating distributed energy resources could save Texas billions: study

The Texas Advanced Energy Business Alliance has issued a report concluding that integrating distributed energy resources into the Texas power market could save about $5.5 billion over 10 years in generation, transmission and distribution costs, which drew mixed reactions from industry observers Thursday. TAEBA commissioned Demand Side Analytics to produce a report evaluating the contributions to be made by DERs such as solar panels, energy storage, energy efficiency and electric vehicles to the Texas power market by reducing the need for more costly peak power generation, transmission and distribution investments. The report was released Wednesday.
