Spot power in ERCOT up nearly $3/MWh alongside natural gas

Day-ahead on-peak power at the Electric Reliability Council of Texas' North hub traded nearly $3/MWh higher Thursday, data from the Intercontinental Exchange showed. The power contract was trading up from Wednesday's settlement price of $30.61/MWh. Off-peak power trading real-time at ERCOT North was valued higher as well, moving up close to $1.70/MWh from Wednesday's settlement of $23/MWh. Natural gas at Houston Ship Channel also traded up, increasing 9.50 cents to $2.605/MMBtu, S&P Global Platts' preliminary index showed. Peakload in ERCOT should rise just over 1% Friday, according to data from the grid operator, as high temperatures increase into the lower 60s Fahrenheit, but lows remain in the upper 30s.
