Upper Midwest gas prices climb for third straight day

Upper Midwest natural gas prices increased for the third consecutiveday Wednesday as inflows from Western Canada backed off on theheels of a storage deficit.The cash price for Natural Gas Pipeline Nipsco increased 7 centsday on day to $2.69/MMBtu. Similarly, the cash price for NGPL Nicorincreased 4.5 cents day on day to $2.69/MMBtu. Both locations haveseen three consecutive days of increases. There was upward pressureas inflows from Western Canada dropped off.Inflows from Western Canada into the Upper Midwest have averaged3.43 Bcf/d so far this month, 549 MMcf lower than what inflows averagedat this time last year, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics. Inflowshave fallen as cooler weather is driving demand up at the same time thatAlberta is injecting at multiyear highs into storage in an attempt todiminish the storage deficit before the core winter months.
