Cameron LNG terminal seeks to commission additional systems ahead of startup

Sempra Energy's Cameron LNG was preparing to ramp up gas deliveries to its Louisiana facility as it requested permission from US regulators on Thursday to flow hazardous fluids to commission the feedgas system tied to the cold end of Train 1. The request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission involves the commissioning of several additional systems at the terminal. Cameron LNG started receiving natural gas deliveries in late March as it started to commission its flare and fuel gas systems. Production is expected to begin within weeks, and eventually the terminal will be ready to ship cargoes. Since first introducing partial feedgas deliveries, Cameron LNG has struggled to keep up a consistent intake of feedgas to the facility as commissioning procedures are well underway. The terminal registered record high feedgas deliveries of 28 MMcf/d on Wednesday, S&P Global Platts Analytics data show. In the days ahead, the terminal could continue to see stronger deliveries on a more consistent basis. Last week, FERC approved the commissioning and introduction of feedgas to the warm end system of Train 1, and it took another week to see flows react in a ramp up at the terminal, indicating feedgas could receive a similar boost over the week following approval to commission the cold end system.
