WEST POWER TRAC KER: Prices up at least 25% on year as gas prices soar

Next-day power prices in the Western US remained stronger year onyear during January, lifted by above-average gas prices. However, bothgas and power prices were below December levels.In the Northwest, day-ahead on-peak power indexes fell between32% and 37% from December, but were up between 33% and 43%from January 2018. Prices were above the 10-year January average atboth the California-Oregon Border and Mid-Columbia.
