US coal producers focus on export logistics

US coal producers are increasingly looking to a strongninternational market as a means of diversification andnnew sales as domestic demand growth stagnates.nAccording to James Roberts, chairman and CEO ofnFoundation Coal, US coal exports could reach 75 millionnto 80 million short tons in 2008 or beyond. Roberts saidnsome international buyers are becoming more willing tontalk about multi-year contracts because they have “gravenconcerns about the availability of coal at any price.”
