Natural gas prices firm

Inventories are no less of a problem in the natural gas market. US gas inventories rose 67 Bcf to 3.525 Tcf for the week ending September 18, within the range of expectations. This brought the surplus over year-ago levels to 509 Bcf up from 496 Bcf the previous week, while the surplus over the five-year average of 3.040 Tcf fell to 485 Bcf from 487 Bcf. Stock levels are close to their November 2007 all-time high of 3.545 Tcf with six more weeks of injection still to come.
