EU carbon rule-making gathers pace in October

December 2010 EUAs traded in an intra-month range of €14.87 to €15.86 ($20.79-$22.17) per metric ton of CO2 equivalent in October, little changed from September's €14.88 to €15.80/mt range. Prices reached the month's high of €15.86 on October 11, with the onset of colder weather in Europe helping to push up demand for natural gas, power and carbon allowances. However, a bout of selling saw prices fall back through the rest of the month to fall below the €15.00 mark, and as low as €14.87 October 21. December 2010 Certified Emissions Reductions rose to €13.00 October 22.
