Electricity prices for German households rose by an average 2.1% in first-half 2010. A three-person household using 3,500 kWh/year now pays an average €69/month ($96.34), reports energy and water federation BDEW. Taxes and levies have risen to a record level, accounting for 41% of the price. The wholesale electricity price and marketing costs account for 35% of the retail price and network charges around 24%.
