Rising coal costs hit Chinese generators

China's three largest overseas listed generators have posted their results for 2010. The reports show similar problems and generally similar responses to the problems. The largest overseas listed generator is Huaneng Power International, Inc, one of the main listed subsidiaries of the state-owned China Huaneng Group. For the twelve months ending December 31, 2010, the company recorded a 35.72% year-on-year increase in operating revenue at Yuan 104.318 billion ($15.93 billion), but posted a 32.08% year-on-year decrease in net profit attributable to shareholders at Yuan 3.348 billion.
