Argentina warns Premier over Falkland Islands drilling

Argentina's Foreign Ministry has warned Premier Oil against pursuing oil activities in the Falkland Islands after the UK-based company unveiled plans to drill in the contested South Atlantic archipelago. Premier Oil agreed in July to acquire a 60% stake and operatorship of Rockhopper Exploration's Sea Lion oil discovery and other licenses off the Falkland Islands in a $1 billion farm-in deal. Rockhopper has found hydrocarbons in seven of the 10 wells it has drilled at Sea Lion, where there is potential for the production of 50,000 b/d of crude, according to Premier.
