The search for a new energy vector - ammonia

The search for new energy vectors has renewed interest in ammonia (NH3), which can be made from hydrogen and atmospheric nitrogen and then stored either as a liquid at 8 bar and minus 30° Celsius or in solid form combined with sodium or magnesium, according to a presentation, Ammonia -- a viable long-term alternative to fossil fuels, made at the Culham laboratory in the UK in October. Ammonia can in theory be made from anything that contains hydrogen, promising potentially a sustainable waterammonia- water cycle.
