On October 1, the International Energy Agency hailed what it called “the historic launch of a Carbon Capture and Storage project” - Canadian power company SaskPower’s Boundary Dam. The project is indeed historic in that it is the world’s first large-scale power plant to capture and store CO2, but whether it proves “a historic milestone along the road to a low-carbon energy future” is another question altogether.
