US generators frustrated by gas market operations

US electric generators will look to other fuel sources if the natural gas market cannot provide the flexibility and transparency in pricing and services needed to ensure reliable gas-fired power, Michael Kormos, executive vice president of operations at PJM Interconnection, said in September. "Maybe it's not the most economic solution but if the gas side can't be flexible enough to meet our needs, then our answer has got to be – from a reliability perspective – we need to go to dual fuel," Kormos said. "At the end of the day, we'd like to see the most efficient service, but we truly believe there have to be some changes" to the gas market.
