Hybrid road sweepers

A German study has estimatedrnthat working vehicles – forrnexample road sweepers, municipalrnvehicles and dustbin lorries etc --rnaccount for as much as 15% ofrnthe energy consumption of all roadrntraffic, despite the actual numberrnof such vehicles being relativelyrnsmall. Such vehicles have longrnoperating times of six to eightrnhours per day.rnRoad sweepers are currentlyrnequipped with a powertrain forrnmoving the vehicle, a blower forrnsucking up dirt and debris andrnbrushes for cleaning the ground,rnpowered by diesel engines. Arnsophisticated hydraulicrndistribution system guides thernrelevant share of energy to thernvarious components.
