The European Commission’s charges against state gas company Gazprom of market abuse in Central andrnEastern Europe are widely viewed as being politically motivated. Gazprom itself has rejected them as unfounded.rnThe company adheres to all international laws and national legislation in the markets where it conducts business,rnit said, adding “The business practices of the Gazprom Group in the EU market, including the principles of gasrnpricing, are in full conformity with the standards observed by other producers and exporters of natural gas.”rnThe company said that it expects the case to be resolved at the intergovernmental level, in line with anrnagreement reached between the Commission and the Russian government in November 2013, when Russia’srnPrime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and then president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso signed arndeal to conduct consultations on the issue.
