EAC seeks Vasilikos funds

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus is seeking a loan of up to €130 million from the European Investment Bank towards the €260 million cost of a generating unit at its severely damaged Vasilikos power station, EIB records showed November 7. The 'phase IV project concerns a 220-MW electric combined cycle gas turbine unit to run on distillate fuel oil. EAC plans to convert the unit to natural gas operation once the fuel is available in Cyprus, the bank said. An environmental permit for the unit was granted back in 2006.
