Large user rates compared

Large industrial users consuming around 250 GWh/ yr pay more in the UK than in France, the Netherlands or Belgium, according to a study by Frontier Economics for the Belgian regulator, the CREG, published October 28. They pay €0.754/kWh compared to €0.723/kWh in Flanders, the next highest. These are also the two price areas where large industry pays the most for the energy - as opposed to network and tax components. In the medium-industry segment, users in Wallonia -followed by those in the UK - pay most. In the small industry segment, it is Germany followed by Wallonia. France is cheapest in every case. The study also looks at typical profiles for households and SMEs.
