AF adds to NdD contract

AF, the Swedish-based technical consultants, has been awarded "a substantial follow-up order" for the Nant de Drance pumped-storage hydropower project, it said November 9. The consultancy said the new order worth a further €15 million relates to "additional services within the areas of design project management and construction services" for the project's capacity increase. This July, the developer of the pumped-storage project, being built between the Emosson and Vieux-Emosson dams in Finhaut in the southwestern canton of Valais, decided to increase the installed capacity of the 600 MW project to 900 MW at an extra cost of CHF 500 million, taking the overall cost to CHF 1.8 billion. The new hydropower plant is scheduled to enter service in 2017.
