The estimated net margin on supplying a standard tariff, dual fuel (power and gas) customer in the UK is £125 for the year from October 2011 on an average bill of £1,335, regulator Ofgem said October 14 in its latest supply market report. The margin is up £110 on the regulator's last report in June this year, meaning that utility retail profit margins have gone from 1% to around 8% on average.
