Grid fees hiked

Finnish national grid operator Fingrid Oyj said September 7 it would raise grid fees in 2012 by an average 30% to fund its $2.4 billion capex program and rising costs. The gridco's 2011 grid consumption fee for winter would rise to €3.48/MWh from €2.52/MWh, and the consumption fee for the remainder of the year would increase to €1.74/MWh from €1.26/MWh. The use of grid fee (output) is to rise to €0.80/MWh from €0.72/MWh and the use of grid fee (input) in 2011 would rise to €0.50/MWh from €0.30/MWh in 2010, the company said. The new contract period would extend over four years but grid fees would be reviewed annually.
