Verbund is to invest €2.6 billion in domestic and international power plant and network expansion projects between 2012 and 2016, the Austrian utility said September 8 at an investor day presentation. Some 62% of the total is to focus on its domestic Austria/Germany market, with joint ventures in Italy (Sorgenia), Turkey (Enerjisa) and France (Poweo) favored thereafter. "Our vision is to become one of the most important hydropower generators in Europe supplemented by environmentally friendly gas and wind technology," said chief executive Wolfgang Anzengruber.
