WPD offshore GmbH is seeking up to €450 million from the European Investment Bank towards the €1,290 million cost of the 288-MW Butendiek offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, EIB records showed September 12. The project involves construction of 80 3.6-MW wind turbines on monopole foundations some 53-km from shore and 34-km from the island of Sylt, the EIB said. The wind farm concession covers an area of 33 sq km at a water depth between 17 and 23 meters. Meanwhile Bremenports GmbH & Co has applied for funding of up to €100 million of EIB funding towards the €200 million cost of an offshore terminal south of Bremerhaven on the Weser River to handle, pre assemble and store offshore wind turbines.
