No power cuts were scheduled in Cyprus September 6 as energy saving efforts and mild weather conditions compensate for the on-going loss of the island's 648-MW Vasilikos power station in Mari, Electricity Authority of Cyprus said on the day. "Taking into account the conscious energy saving by consumers and provided that mild weather conditions would continue to prevail, it is estimated that under normal conditions, no emergency power cuts will be necessary," the utility said Tuesday. "It is, however, pointed out that we still need your kind contribution towards the goal of uninterruptable power supply by continuing your efforts to save energy," it said.
