RWE Transgas, the Czech unit of Germany's RWE, has suspended plans to build a 1,000 MW gas-fired power plant in central Bohemia near the capital Prague, to focus instead on Turkey and Poland, it said September 13. The CCGT project was to have been built at Mochov, 15 km northeast of Prague, in partnership with Switzerland's Alpiq, with the plant scheduled to enter commercial service in 2017. "RWE reviews all investment projects on a regular basis considering overall trends in the energy sector both on the European and the German market. Currently a strong focus lies on new power plant projects in Turkey and Poland, for instance," spokesman Martin Chalupsky told Platts. "The Bohemia Center CCGT power plant is subject to regular assessments in the light of changes in the market and to RWE's priorities. At this point, we would just like to keep the option open to implement the project," he said.
