Grid guidelines in the works

Federal guidelines for grid development and a framework scenario for grid planning are being prepared in collaboration with all concerned, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy said October 31.The office notes that some grid sections are more than 40 years old and are ill-suited to the needs of the country's Energy Strategy 2050, phasing out nuclear and replacing it with renewables and energy efficiency. Grid planning roles and responsibilities are to be reorganized prior to the transfer of ownership of the grid to national TSO Swissgrid, due to take place before the end of the year.
