Pennon Group subsidiary Viridor South London Limited has signed a 25-year waste treatment contract that requires construction of a £200 million, 26-MW Energy from Waste (EfW) plant at Beddington, Sutton, the UK utility said November 6.The public-private partnership contract is with the South London Waste Partnership, comprising the London Boroughs of Croydon, Kingston, Merton and Sutton.It requires the treatment of around 200,000 tonnes per year of waste in the plant "and is designed to achieve around 92% landfill diversion," Pennon said.
