The European-delivered CIF ARA physical coal market moved up 50 cents November 8 to its highest level in four weeks with a London-based trader saying that coal was stronger overall during the session, despite not much having changed fundamentally. Three generic origin January DES cargoes traded stable on-day at $88/mt: two DES AR shipments through globalCOAL with exchange of futures for physical terms attached, and one DES Rotterdam cargo through London Commodity Brokers. There was only a bid seen on the screen-brokered market for December at $86.75/mt. On November 8 Platts assessed the CIF ARA price at $88/ mt, rising again having been at $86 two weeks earlier.
