Alstom is to buy Tidal Generation Limited from Rolls Royce, the French engineering firm said September 25. The acquisition is expected to be completed within the next few months, subject to closing conditions, Alstom said. No price was put on the deal. TGL designs and manufactures tidal stream turbines. It has a 500-kWe unit installed at the European Marine Energy Center at Orkney, Scotland, which has generated over 250 MWh of electricity, averaging 12 hours of operation a day, Alstom said.
