Prompt prices softened early August 3 while the curve held firm on the UK NBP gas trading hub amid quiet, rangebound trading. A bit of extra supply in the system, as output from the South Hook LNG terminal remained strong, saw same and next-day gas contracts marginally extend losses for a fourth day running. The within-day contract was valued at 51.85 pence/therm midday August 3, while the day-ahead contract was trading at 52.00 p/th - both contracts were above 58 p/th July 6.
