EDF starts Polish IED refits

EDF has begun to modernize its generation and cogeneration plants in Poland to meet the requirements of the Industrial Emissions Directive, the company said November 19. The official launch of the utility's investment program began with its 363 MWe and 1,083 MWth Kogeneracja CHP plant in Wroclaw, southwest Poland. The company said it would install flue gas desulfurization and denitration systems on its predominately hard coal-fired CHP plants in Wroclaw, Krakow, Gdansk and Gydnia and its 1,775 MW hard coal-fired power plant in Rybnik to meet the demands of the directive and increase the operating efficiency of the units and extend their lifetimes to at least 2035.
