Statskog leases land to Eolus Vind

State-owned forestry company Statskog SF, Norway's largest landowner, is to permit Eolus Vind Norge to lease areas of its property for the construction of wind farms, Statskog said June 16. Eolus Vind Norge is a subsidiary of Eolus Vind, one of Sweden's largest wind park developers. Meanwhile the head of NVE, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate, has deplored the fact that Sweden been so much more active than Norway in wind development. This year ten times as much wind power will be developed in Sweden as in Norway. Over all, five times as much wind power as in Norway has been harnessed by the country's Swedish neighbors. NVE has been criticized as too slow to approve wind projects. According to NVE head Per Sanderud, however, 22 concessions for wind projects have been processed and approved, but no investment decisions have been taken on any of these.
