Network 2025 program begins in earnest

Swissgrid has begun implementation of its Strategic Network 2025 program with two major projects launched at the end of August. Work has begun on mast foundations for the controversial high voltage grid section Chamoson-Chippis, with erection due in early 2019. Swissgrid says the 380 kV overhead line is indispensable for the transfer of Valais hydropower to load centers in Western Switzerland and the Central Plateau.
