Belgium’s future capacity mechanism is to mirror that ofrnthe UK, with a four year-ahead and a one year-aheadrnauction, the Belgian cabinet agreed July 20. Draft legislationrnhas been submitted to the European Commission beforerngoing to Parliament, but nothing has been published yet.rnThe government nevertheless described thernmechanism as a “major reform of the electricity market”rndelivering three objectives: security of supply; a viable longtermrnenergy transition; and phase-out of nuclear “at thernlowest price for the consumer.”
