Gazprom Neft stands firm on NIS

Gazprom Neft, the oil exploration and production arm of Russia's state-controlled gas giant Gazprom, sees no reason to raise the $588 million it has agreed to pay for a controlling stake in Serbia's state-owned oil and gas company NIS despite renewed local opposition, company president Alexander Dyukov said July 23. Earlier this month, Serbia's economy minister Mladan Dinkic reportedly said the government intends to hold new talks with the Russian government to ensure it receives a fair price for NIS as the price offered by Gazprom Neft for the stake was "still too low." In January, Serbia's centrist-liberal coalition government backed a deal offering 51% of NIS for E∪D400 million ($588 million) to Gazprom Neft.
