Ankara to boost border trade

Turkey is looking to boost cross border trade in response to the high cost of power from Turkey's private generators, according to officials of Turkey's state electricity wholesaler TETAS.rnThe first sign of the new policy came with the signing July 14 of an agreement with Syria which will allow for cross border trade of up to 250 MW via the existing 400-kV interconnection. However the new agreement is expected initially to see power exported to Syria with exports expected to begin in early August.
