New line links Podgorica to Tirana

A new 400-kV transmission line connecting the capitals of Montenegro and Albania was officially launched into operation on August 5. The new 155 km-long Podgorica-Tirana line represents a key high-voltage link that connects Albania to the western European power system and Montenegro to the power system of Greece and beyond. The HV line is expected to significantly improve electricity supply in Albania. The new line was officially inaugurated at a ceremony held August 5 in the Albanian border town of Shkoder in the presence of government officials from both countries, according to a statement published on the website of the Montenegrin government.
