Opposition parties opposed to Lithuania's nuclear power and LNG import projects are set to win the largest number of parliamentary seats in the election scheduled for October 14, according to research by two independent pollsters interviewed by Platts September 20. The opposition Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), which objected to plans for a 1,350-MW nuclear plant in the country and has said it will "further investigate" the LNG project, is projected to win almost a quarter of the vote - more than any other party, and twice as much as the ruling conservative party, according to Ignas Zokas, general manager of Spinter Research in Vilnius.
