Turkey's General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) has launched its tenth tender for geothermal exploration rights in just over a year. On offer are the rights to prospect for reserves of geothermal steam in 19 locations with bids due by April 25. Of the 19 sites, 13 are in west Turkey, where most of the country's known geothermal reserves are situated, four in central Turkey and two in east Turkey. For 12 of the sites minimum investments of $15,000 are required in prospecting with the remaining sites requiring minimum investment of between $20,000 and $40,000.
