Accelerating renewable energy and flexible gas-fired generationdevelopment would allow Germany to bring forward the phase outcoal-fired generation eight years to 2030, a report by Finland-basedWartsila Energy said June 22.Around 12 GW of new combined heat and power capacity, or CHP,were needed under a cost-optimal scenario regardless of the pace ofthe coal phase-out, the report said.
