Austrian solar capacity hits 2 GW, set to rise sixfold to 2030

Austria’s solar capacity has risen above 2 GW capacity after a record 341MW were added in 2020, association Photovoltaic Austria said June 17.Solar capacity is forecast to rise 450 MW this year and 600 MW in2022, it said based on the required 2030 growth trajectory.In order to meet the 100% renewable power target set by thegovernment for 2030, some 11 GW new solar capacity was needed.The association noted “first signs of a solar revolution” but for the2030 target to be met, annual additions would need to triple to over 1GW by 2025.
