Poland has fixed the maximum price for electricity generated by planned offshore wind farms at Zloty 319.60/MWh (Eur 68.54/MWh), a level below industry expectations. The maximum price was fixed in a regulation signed by the Climate and Environment Ministry late March 30. The price was a compromise between the ministry's original lower proposal and that of the Ministry of State Assets, which wanted a higher price influenced by the country's state-controlled utilities' cost estimates for the projects. "The price is the result of analysis and consultations. The realisation of Zloty 130 billion of offshore wind farms will be the driving force of the Polish economy," deputy climate and environment minister, Ireneusz Zyska, who is responsible for renewable energy, wrote on Twitter.
