Spanish biomass nears 1 GW

Spanish biomass capacity is closing in on 1 GW installed following thestartup of a new plant at a shuttered coal and oil plant early January.With a latest figure for installed capacity of 860 MW, according togrid operator REE, the addition of a 50 MW unit at Puertollanoannounced by Ence and the impending startup of a further 146 MWshould ensure the 1 GW figure is breached by the end of Q1.Ence is close to starting up a new 46 MW unit at Huelva which wasdue to start up at the end of 2019 and is expected online very soon,joining an existing 91 MW it already operates at the same site.
