Government Relations In Action: CSI F006 Project Involving Milwaukee Branch Finishers, WDNR & U.S. EPA Will Have Industry-wide Benefits

For several years, finishers in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area have set the competitive aspects of their companies aside and have joined in making a strong commitment to work together in the broad arena of government relations for the good of the industry as a whole. This commitment has had a strong educational side to it: Collecting sound, scientific data in support of changing or preventing unduly restrictive regulations, and welcoming representatives of government agencies, environmental groups and the general public into their finishing shops to give hands-on lessons of what finishing is, and how industry practitioners handle chemicals and waste products in a responsible, pro-environment manner. As the result of a CSI workgroup meeting held March 27, this important liaison of finishers in Milwaukee now enters the national spotlight as the Common Sense Initiative moves into its next phase of policy and project implementation.
