In April 2010, the state-owned Russian JSC Transneft, the operator of an approximately 69,000 km oil and oil products pipelinensystem, chose Omega to install its system of monitoring of extended structures (SMES) on all its newly constructed pipelines.nThe system is based on a fibre-optic distributed sensor system (FODSS).
