Total Fina Elf plans to buy TransCanada Pipelines' interests in four South American natural gas pipelines for $440 million to boost its natural gas distribution business. Total is the fourth-largest producer of oil and natural gas in South America. It will buy interests in natural gas pipelines in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. Arkley (UK) of London is now the independent overseas trading company for the Chelyabinsk Pipe & Tube Rolling Mill, Russia's and the world's largest pipe mill with capacity for 3 million tons per year. It is now marketing the extensive range of pipes manufactured by the plant which is licensed to API 5L for oil and gas pipe as well as producing to DIN and ASTM standards.
