Apanel of leading energy experts agree that high natural gas prices may benefit a few, but ultimately it will result in substantial long-term- damage to the industry as consumers shop elsewhere for cheaper fuels. And at prices ranging up to $10 per Mcf this winter, the industry can forget about achieving the often-talked about 30 Tcf market by 2010-15, said Harmon Harvey, an executive of El Paso Corp., the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline company.
