Phoenix Contact has announced the release of two new serial copper-to-copper repeaters, designed to extend the speed, distance and physical network structure limitationsrnof the RS-485 data communications standard. The PSI-REP-PROFIBUS-12MB module was designed specifically for the Profibus protocol and supports data transmission speeds up to 12Mb. The PSI-REP-RS485W2 module, designed to interface into networks following the RS-485 two-wire standard, supports data rates up to 500K.
