StayLit Allows Changing Out Gas Meters Without Shutting Off Service

A group of CenterPoint En ergy natural gas employees imagined just that and ultimately turned their idea into reality. CenterPoint Energy gas operations employees worked together across the organization for more than two years to develop and commercialize the StayLit. StayLit is a device that allows a gas meter to be removed without interrupting gas service to a home. While the gas meter is being changed out, gas supply and pressure is maintained as needed for the appliances in the home to remain operational, with no service interruption. As the old meter is removed, the bag enclosure fills with gas to maintain constant pressure in the home gas lines. StayLit has flexible, built-in gloves and a viewing window in order to enable a technician to work efficiently.
